Global food tech investment firm Big Idea Ventures has acquired the assets of Vevolution, a fast-growing digital investment platform and startup marketplace, in a strategic move to strengthen its global innovation infrastructure.
The deal, finalized earlier this month, underscores Big Idea Ventures’ expanding commitment to sectors such as agrifood tech, climate tech, biotech, and sustainable artificial intelligence.
The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, but industry analysts view it as a significant consolidation in the food innovation ecosystem, bringing together Vevolution’s dynamic platform with Big Idea Ventures’ global investment reach.
Founded in London, Vevolution has built a strong reputation for democratizing access to capital in the alternative protein and sustainable food space. Since 2022, the platform has grown from 3,000 to over 8,000 users, and now connects more than 2,200 startups with 1,000 investors worldwide.

“Vevolution has proven itself as a highly effective platform for connecting mission-driven startups with the capital and mentorship they need,” said Andrew D. Ive, Managing General Partner at Big Idea Ventures. “This acquisition allows us to better serve the global innovation community and further accelerate solutions in food, climate, and biotech.”
Vevolution has helped facilitate over $60 million in startup investments, supporting breakout companies such as MeliBio, a bee-free honey pioneer; Opalia, which develops cell-cultured milk; De Novo Foodlabs and Fermify, both leaders in precision-fermented dairy; and Shaka Harry, a fast-rising plant-based meat brand in India.
“Startups that are changing the food system often struggle to access the right investors,” said Vevolution co-founder Damien Clarkson. “We built this platform to close that gap. Joining forces with Big Idea Ventures gives our community a bigger stage and deeper resources.”
The acquisition is expected to amplify Big Idea Ventures’ ability to scout, invest in, and accelerate companies driving sustainable change at scale. The firm, which operates globally with offices in New York, Paris, and Singapore, is known for its high-profile investment funds focused on alternative proteins and food system transformation.
As food systems face mounting pressure from climate change, population growth, and environmental degradation, investors are increasingly looking toward early-stage innovation to deliver scalable, sustainable solutions.
Industry experts say the integration of digital tools like Vevolution into major venture firms marks a shift toward more accessible and agile investing in deep tech and food innovation.
