Forward Fooding has officially unveiled the 2024 FoodTech 500, a global ranking of the most promising AgriFoodTech companies across the world.
This sixth edition of the 2024 FoodTech 500 showcases a dynamic shift within the AgriFoodTech sector, focusing on sustainability and technological advancements.
With over 1,420 applications from more than 80 countries, this year’s finalists have collectively raised $8.67 billion and represent a growing commitment to climate action. A significant 99% of these companies have secured investments, with 34% being female-founded, demonstrating progress in diversity.
Key trends include the rise of biotechnology, alternative proteins, and upcycled ingredients, while the industry also faces challenges in funding, with fewer ‘mega-funded’ companies due to a more cautious investment climate. Nevertheless, the FoodTech 500 continues to celebrate the entrepreneurial talent driving solutions that tackle some of the most pressing issues in food sustainability and climate action.
The event will culminate in a global unveiling at Google UK’s headquarters, bringing together key players in the sector to share insights and foster collaboration.
The growing emphasis on sustainability is evident with a notable increase in companies addressing climate-conscious solutions. This edition represents the maturation of the ecosystem, shifting from consumer-facing innovations to impactful biotech solutions.
