Lagos is setting the stage for one of the most ambitious agritech innovation drives in Nigeria with the launch of Lagos Agrithon 2025 — a platform designed to spotlight bold ideas reshaping the future of food and agriculture.

The initiative, which runs from August 23 to September 8, 2025, is calling on agripreneurs, innovators, and startups to apply for a share of a ₦150 million funding pool aimed at scaling transformative solutions across Nigeria’s agriculture value chain.

According to organizers, Lagos Agrithon 2025 will prioritize ideas in cold chain and storage solutions, climate-smart farming, hydroponics, aeroponics, precision agriculture, waste-to-value innovations, digital platforms for ag-finance and market access, farm equipment design, local fabrication, and new product development.

“This is more than a competition; it’s a springboard for agritech pioneers who can solve Lagos’ and Nigeria’s most pressing agricultural challenges,” the statement reads.

Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 40, have businesses registered with CAC and LASSRA, and show proof of at least one year of operation with a viable product or sales.

Startups must also demonstrate that their solution directly impacts Lagos’ agri-food systems.

Entries will be judged on innovation, feasibility, scalability, supply chain and logistics efficiency, sustainability, market viability, and quality of presentation.

Agritech insiders see the program as a golden opportunity for innovators tackling food security, post-harvest losses, and access to markets. With Lagos’ growing demand for food and the need to cut reliance on imports, scalable local solutions are expected to gain significant traction.

For participants, success will require more than an idea. Each applicant must submit a clear pitch deck and video pitch, effectively communicating their solution’s potential impact. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.

With food security increasingly tied to economic growth and social stability, Lagos Agrithon 2025 is shaping up to be a vital launchpad for startups that can reimagine agriculture for sustainability, efficiency, and resilience.

Interested applicants are urged to seize this opportunity, as it may define the next wave of agritech leaders in Nigeria.
