- Participants can apply for Seed Grants ($25,000), Growth Grants ($100,000), or Grand Prizes ($250,000), designed to support projects at various stages of development in food sustainability and nutrition.
- The challenge prioritises projects that offer scalable, sustainable solutions to global food system issues, including food security, health, and environmental impact.
- Selected submissions will join the Global Food System Innovation Library, a searchable database connecting solution providers and seekers, fostering partnerships to advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The Seeding The Future Foundation and the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) have officially launched the fourth annual Seeding The Future Global Food System Challenge, opening for submissions from 1 November 2024 until 6 January 2025.
This initiative provides a platform for innovators, researchers, and entrepreneurs who are developing transformative solutions aimed at creating a sustainable and nutritious global food system.
The challenge offers three tiers of funding awards: up to two Grand Prizes of $250,000, three Growth Grants of $100,000, and eight Seed Grants of $25,000. Participants are judged on their projects’ scalability, economic viability, and potential for significant impact on human health and environmental sustainability.

These categories allow participants with varied levels of innovation maturity to showcase ideas addressing food security, health, and sustainability.
New this year is the Seeding The Future Global Food System Innovation Library and Network. This searchable database will feature peer-reviewed submissions, promoting collaboration among innovators and allowing major organisations such as the United Nations FAO and World Food Programme to access high-potential solutions and connect with creators.
