New Brunswick, New Jersey – Rutgers University, a prestigious institution of higher learning, has announced its partnership with SolarEdge Technologies, a renowned provider of smart energy solutions. The collaboration aims to advance research in agrivoltaics and support the development of New Jersey’s Dual-Use Solar Energy Pilot Program.

The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) is spearheading a groundbreaking initiative to explore the feasibility and advantages of agrivoltaics over three years, with a total capacity of 200 MW. This program aims to utilize dual-use solar energy by integrating solar panels into agricultural environments to support sustainable farming practices and generate renewable energy.

Rutgers University’s agrivoltaics program includes three research sites, each using different panel setup methods to study their effects on agricultural productivity and electricity generation. The data gathered from this research will aid in establishing a permanent Dual-Use Solar Program in New Jersey, paving the way for a new era of sustainable energy production.
