In a strategic move to enhance agricultural productivity in Kenya, Nairobi-based agritech startup FarmWorks Agriculture has secured equity financing from Truvalu Group, a Netherlands-based impact investor.
This follows the startup’s previous success in 2023, when it raised $4.1 million during a pre-Series A funding round led by the Acumen Resilient Agriculture Fund, with additional backing from the Livelihood Impact Fund, Vested World, family offices, and angel investors.
FarmWorks, founded in 2020 by Yi Li and Peter Mwangi is dedicated to unlocking Africa’s agricultural potential by developing clusters of mid-sized farms and working closely with thousands of smallholder farmers.

The startup’s core focus is on creating direct market linkages, both locally and internationally, to improve farmers’ productivity and market access.
As it scales up, FarmWorks is also emphasising the digitization of its field operations to boost efficiency. Li acknowledges that while digitising individual farmers poses challenges, digitising internal processes can ensure accurate and timely data collection from the field.
Truvalu Group’s investment underscores confidence in FarmWorks’ mission to nurture a new generation of regenerative and climate-smart farmers.
