Ghana has been selected as the host nation for a groundbreaking initiative aimed at advancing agricultural innovation across Africa.
This new Pan-African Agritech Hub, spearheaded by the Timbuktoo Africa Innovation Fund, seeks to revolutionise the agricultural landscape through technology-driven solutions.
The decision was announced following discussions between Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo and key stakeholders, including Nigeria’s Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
Osinbajo highlighted the significance of the initiative on his Instagram page, emphasising its focus on leveraging technology to propel Africa’s agricultural future.
President Akufo-Addo, a staunch advocate of the Timbuktoo Africa Innovation Fund since its launch at the World Economic Forum in Davos earlier this year, reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to the project.
The Agritech Hub will harness Ghana’s existing initiatives like Planting for Food and Jobs and E-Agric programs, as well as its strategic position as the headquarters of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
