  • The programme was inaugurated in June 2025 by Bola Tinubu in Abuja, with the commissioning of 2,000 tractors and over 9,000 specialised farming implements, marking the largest mechanisation drive in Nigeria’s history.
  • It targets modernising agriculture by shifting away from largely manual subsistence operations, reducing labour intensity, improving yields, and expanding mechanised farming across hundreds of thousands of hectares.
  • The scheme emphasises inclusion of youth and women agripreneurs, encouraging them to become service-providers, mechanics and operators of the machinery, offering training, technical support and digital tracking of equipment.
  • Nigerians are being called to apply: the programme is open for applications under flexible financing and service-provider models, enabling individuals, cooperatives or small-scale entrepreneurs to access the mechanisation assets without full upfront purchase.

The Federal Government has launched a new agricultural mechanisation initiative and is urging Nigerians to apply.

The Renewed Hope National Agricultural Mechanisation Programme, introduced through the Bank of Agriculture in partnership with Heifer Nigeria, is designed to strengthen the country’s food security by supporting a new generation of mechanisation service providers, particularly women, young people, and established mechanisation companies.

According to a notice shared on Thursday by Dada Olusegun, Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Social Media, applications are free and currently open. Interested candidates must apply via the official website, (https://boanig.com), ahead of a firm deadline of 10 November 2025.

The programme provides access to affordable tractors and agricultural implements, backed by a three-year servicing plan available through certified service centres or mobile hubs.

Eligible applicants include female and youth agripreneurs aged 18 to 35, as well as mechanisation companies seeking to expand their operational capacity.

RHAMP offers competitive terms such as three to five-year lease options, a 15 per cent interest rate, a 25 per cent down payment, and special provisions tailored to women and young farmers.

The initiative marks a significant push toward modernising Nigerians agricultural sector and improving livelihoods across rural communities.

Earlier in June, PUNCH Online reported that President Tinubu had unveiled the distribution of 2,000 tractors and thousands of implements under the first phase of the programme.

Speaking at the time, the President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transforming the sector. He highlighted that the initial rollout included more than 2,000 advanced tractors, 50 industrial land-preparation bulldozers, 12 mobile workshops, and over 8,000 specialised implements, describing the initiative as a major step toward a more sustainable agricultural future for the country.
