Cameroon has celebrated 10 exceptional startups in its first-ever Agritech Innovation Challenge, recognizing groundbreaking digital solutions that enhance agriculture and promote inclusivity.
- Winners Recognized: Selected from hundreds of entries, the laureates presented innovative approaches, ranging from AI-driven precision farming to climate change adaptation technologies, at a ceremony in Yaoundé.
- Supporting Innovation: The challenge is part of the Project for the Acceleration of the Digital Transformation of Cameroon (PATNUC), backed by $100 million from the World Bank’s International Development Association (IDA). Each winner receives up to CFA 40 million ($66,640) in cash and technical support to implement their business plans.
- Government’s Vision: Minette Libom Li Likeng, Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, hailed the initiative as a platform to showcase local talent and drive digital transformation in agriculture, livestock, and fisheries. She emphasized its potential to foster self-employment and combat youth unemployment.
- Top Startup’s Mission: Bang Pamela Ncho, COO of eFarm.CM and overall winner, aims to improve market access for farmers by ensuring fair pricing and providing logistics support for product distribution.
