The Seeding The Future Foundation and the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) have announced the launch of the fourth annual Seeding The Future Global Food System Challenge.
This prestigious challenge invites innovators, researchers, and entrepreneurs to submit their proposals for transformative solutions aimed at creating a sustainable and nutritious global food system.
Funding Opportunities
The challenge offers three tiers of funding awards:
- Seed Grants: Up to $25,000 for projects with high-potential, innovative ideas and developed prototypes or initial proof of concept demonstrating feasibility.
- Growth Grants: $100,000 for projects that have shown promise and are looking to scale.
- Grand Prizes: Up to $250,000 for projects that have demonstrated significant impact potential, scalability, and economic viability.
Eligibility Criteria
The challenge is open to:
- Non-profits: Located in any country
- Academic or research institutions: Located in any country
- Early-stage or emerging for-profit companies: Located in any country
However, organizations from countries under U.S. sanctions (Cuba, Iran, Syria, North Korea, Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions of Ukraine) are not eligible to apply.

Application Deadline
The application deadline is January 6, 2025. Selected submissions will join the Global Food System Innovation Library, a searchable database connecting solution providers and seekers, fostering partnerships to advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals ¹ ² ³.
