Overview of the Training Program

Financial literacy and essential business skills play a pivotal role in the success of agribusinesses and their related industries.

Through the BRIDGE-in Agriculture initiative, Mastercard Foundation offers targeted training to help entrepreneurs, especially youth and SMEs, start or expand their businesses.

This initiative provides practical skills that lead to dignifying and fulfilling employment within agriculture and related sectors in Ghana.

About BRIDGE-in Agriculture (BIA)
BRIDGE-in Agriculture is a comprehensive five-year initiative focused on developing and supporting entrepreneurship within Ghana’s agricultural sector.

The program partners with commercial banks to make affordable capital available for SMEs in agriculture, helping to reduce financial burdens with loans at single-digit interest rates. The program also includes specialized training for young people and women, providing tools to secure sustainable and fulfilling work.

Loan Program Details:

BRIDGE-in Agriculture has partnered with multiple commercial banks to support agribusinesses in Ghana to offer accessible loans.

These loans are specifically tailored to meet the needs of Ghanaian agribusinesses, addressing key barriers SMEs face in accessing financial support. Eligible agribusinesses include:

  • SMEs involved in primary agriculture
  • Agro-processing and agricultural input supply
  • Agri-technology companies
  • Businesses within the agricultural value chain, such as restaurants and agricultural R&D entities

This loan initiative aims to stimulate job creation, enabling agribusinesses to scale up their operations, and creating positive ripple effects across communities in Ghana.

Training and Development for Youth and Women 

BRIDGE-in Agriculture offers free targeted training and technical support to help agribusinesses thrive. Youth between 18-35 years and SMEs in agriculture or adjacent sectors can gain practical skills and knowledge through this program, increasing their chances of dignified employment or entrepreneurial success.

Grant Opportunities:

As part of the program, participants may also qualify for a grant of up to GHS27,500, aimed at fostering business growth. This opportunity is designed to empower selected trainees, providing crucial financial support to turn their ideas into impactful businesses.

This initiative presents an invaluable opportunity for youth and SMEs to access crucial financial and technical resources, empowering them to contribute to Ghana’s agricultural sector meaningfully.
