Lucent Bio, a biotech company headquartered in Canada, is set to broaden its reach across the U.S., Europe, and Brazil in response to escalating demand for its innovative seed coatings and micronutrient fertiliser alternatives.
With a strategic focus on the U.S. market, the startup has forged distribution agreements, including a noteworthy partnership with Van Diest Supply.
Additionally, Lucent Bio is actively engaged in collaborations with Brazil’s agricultural sector and research giant Embrapa, aiming to bolster progressive farming practices, as highlighted in a recent press release.
“By joining forces with industry leaders and local experts, Lucent Bio aims to leverage collective expertise and resources as we address pressing challenges and seize opportunities in diverse agri-food systems globally,” Michael Riedijk, founder and CEO, said in a statement.
The biotech company is optimistic about the reception of its Soileos microbial fertilisers in the U.S., particularly among Midwest farmers. Soileos, designed to enhance nutrient efficiency through the activation of the soil’s microbiome, aims to provide substantial support to key crops such as corn, soybean, and wheat.
In addition, the startup made waves in January by introducing Nutreos, an eco-friendly micronutrient seed coating, aligning with the EU’s prohibition on microplastics.
