AGRO-WELL Launches Fresh Push for Breakthrough Smart-Farming Solutions
  • A fresh round of funding is opening the door for smart-farming tools that actually solve day-to-day problems on real farms, from easing physical labour to improving safety.
  • New ideas using AI, robotics and sensor tech are being encouraged, especially those that help farmers make quicker, more confident decisions in tough working conditions.
  • Applicants will get the chance to test their solutions directly in fields, orchards or livestock systems, giving them proper feedback from farmers rather than theory.
  • The push is ultimately about backing practical innovations that cut environmental impact while making farm businesses more resilient and sustainable.

Deadline: 4th February, 2026

AGRO-WELL has opened a fresh call for smart-farming innovations, offering a chance for agri-tech developers to step into a genuinely forward-thinking programme that aims to reshape modern agriculture.

The call is centred on creating and testing practical digital tools that can make farming safer, more efficient and, hopefully, more sustainable in the long run. There is a strong emphasis on AI, augmented reality and sensor-based systems that can improve working conditions on farms, while also helping farmers make better day-to-day decisions.

A big part of the programme revolves around understanding how these technologies affect real people. That means looking not only at productivity, but also at the social and environmental consequences for rural communities.

The organisers want solutions that reflect actual needs, so there is a clear push to involve farmers directly in the design and testing process. It feels like an attempt to avoid that common gap where clever technology doesn’t quite match the reality on the ground.

Successful applicants will work alongside agricultural stakeholders to tackle some of the most pressing challenges in the sector. Things like worker safety, physical strain, environmental pressures and the growing demand for more precise management systems.

The idea is to combine robotics, digital monitoring and smart decision tools in ways that genuinely lighten the load for farmers and farm workers.

Each selected project can receive up to €37,500 to trial and validate their solution on real commercial farms. The projects will run for 12 to 18 months, beginning in October 2026.

There is room for testing across a range of farm environments, whether open fields, orchards, pig units or greenhouse operations. It is not just a technical exercise either.

The programme also supports the development of long term business models and policy suggestions to ensure that these innovations have a future beyond the pilot phase.
